Kerman 600x270
The city of Kerman is situated in the south of Iran and has been known for producing some of the finest and most elegant carpets since the 16th century. During the 19th century as a result of increased foreign trade, there was a colossal demand for carpets and Kerman was one of the regions that was able to adapt their carpets designs and colour palettes to cater for these new emerging markets.

Influence from art deco
This beautiful carpet was custom made in the 1950's for the American market and royal houses. The huge demand for Kerman carpets in the mid 20th century led to the production of more subtle pastel coloured pieces. The designs were also inspired by the Art deco period and French Abbusson carpets and textiles.

Striking luminosity
The carpet has a predominately golden/beige coloration and a central medallion with royal blue borders which creates a unifying effect in the whole piece. The wool used is of very high quality and has a velvety and luminous feel adding a touch of elegance.
This exquisite piece should greatly appeal to both carpet connoisseurs and designers alike for its unique colouring and floral designs.
